Simple Teriyaki Sauce

 ½ cup soy sauce
 ¼ cup brown sugar
 3 tbsp mirin cooking wine
 1 tsp garlic powderyou can sub garlic powder
 1 tsp fresh grated gingeryou can sub ginger powder
 2 tsp cornstarch
 ¼ cup water

In a small bowl mix the water and cornstarch until well blended.

Pour all the ingredients including the water mixture into a cooking pot. Bring to a boil then reduce and simmer for 4-5 minutes. Store in an air tight container or jar for up to a week. Best when used right away.
